Can't think of a better way to conclude this season honestly, this season was really amazing in my opinion, had a few moments that were skipped with Isumi such as her lesson about the BETA Hives to Shirogane or her rescue after the BETA surprise attack but overall the pacing was very good, in 12 episodes we got to see the PTSD arc mostly uncut + the entirety of Operation 21st with a few extra scenes added to it!

Part of Inheritance was adapted which was something i was really hoping for, the Isumi sisters receiving the news of Michiru's death hurts no matter how many times you watch, even more because of the fact that her death was listed as a training accident and not in actual combat, she was a member of a top secret unit so they had to cover it up in the end, become a fine soldier Akira.

Kashiwagi was someone that fought side by side with Akane every step of the way since they were cadets, much like the girls of squad 207B with Takeru, so Akane having to deal with the death of Kashiwagi, the only member of squad 207A besides her that was alive before the operation made for a really heavy and depressing scene, Kashiwagi was probably the most cheerful person with the Valkyries, her desire to protect her captain and allow Shirogane and Meiya to keep their focus in reaching the ship at all times won't be forgotten.

Hayase is now the new captain of the Isumi Valkyries, well deserved, much like Isumi she's ready to complete any mission, no matter the cost. No casualties from the Susanoo's explosion and no signs of BETA in Japanese soil, but a whole world filled with BETA is still out there, the Valkyries prepare to step into another battlefield.

On the lookout for a third season, nothing confirmed yet but it doesn't have to be next year, honestly, if they do it, bring it with a bang, this CG animation in the third season will be pure eye candy. Had a really fun time reviewing these episodes and i'll also be waiting for news on Integrate, the Visual Novel sequel for Alternative, Ya'll better Save in the Name of True Love until then ;) .

Rip to those two soldiers that captain sacrificed herself to destroy that many beta and kawashiwagi was it wanted them to survive that's why she took all that beta all by herself

Opening 1 of season 1 is much better because takeru keeps reaching in the sky while the sound is so cool

I had a hunch that this final episode was going to play out like this... and I was kinda right, I have to admit that this season was miles better than the first one and it really turned out to be an intense rollercoaster... then again, this season and the first one caters to the hardcore fans of Muv-Luv, so newcomers and animeonlis might not be that invested.

Also yes, I was worried that we were not going to get an explanation about why Sumika fainted, and the gist of it is that yes she can read minds and she was able to see one of Takeru's previous loops in which he actually has sex with Meiya, in fact Sumika saw those two going at it... something the anime didn't explained properly.

And that's still one of the major issues with a Muv-Luv anime adaptation, while this season had an improvement in the pacing... everything still felt really rushed, from Marimo's CHOMP to the PTSD arc and others, Muv-Luv is such a big story that there's no way you're going to adapt it fully with just 12 episodes per seasons, especially because of all the details that makes the VN a masterpiece.

Overall I'll give this second season of Alternative a solid 7/10, complete improvement over the first one, but the rush is a greater enemy... far worse than the BETA, but I can say that if we get a next season it will likely be the last one as shit will go down extremely hard... hopefully we get the announcing for the third season soon.

Well i hate to be that guy, but for me this season was a bummer. I really liked the first season's build up and then the followiing shocking twists, which honestly had me awake at night (talkin about the gore). The psychological break down of the mc was also really nice done but then... that was kinda it. As soon as this whole Sumika stuff happened, we shifted from horror and survival to.. idk how to say this (relationship drama)? I guess. Then the high point was the attack on the island which was freakin awesome, but after that everything was lame.
Maybe just my ignorant opinion and guess i had too much expectations but still. I kinda expected more about the loopin stuff, about the mc, about maybe him explaining stuff to his squad and so on. I'd say 7/10 maybe

Next season will be pure chaos… theres less interaction and character building.. its just pure beta/ gore and some disturbing backstory (tho i dont know if they skipped it?Sumikas backstory)
And just deaths….

You know why you feel like that? Because both seasons of this anime adaptation are hella rushed, if you're enjoying the story then I highly recommend playing the VNs, the experience there will be miles better.

Imagine not knowing your sister died a hero for detonating the g bomb and got told instead she died in a training accident. Weaaaaak. top secret? Declassify that sh*t. Downplaying achievements just suck. Though one can only imagine her regret right before blowing up. Im sure she would have liked to see her adorable sister one last time before going out with a bang. Most people would have felt what takeru felt, fear, isolation, despair in a coffin box out in the middle of enemy territory so props for captain izumi.

Best way for this season to end was a mini exposition aftermath, of dealing with the fallout of losing Capt Michiru Isumi , Lt Haruko Kashiwagi, and Marimo Jingūji.

Also, learning why 00 Unit/Kagami Sumika failed at the worst possible moment.

This episode perfectly illustrated of what war is like. 'Months of boredom punctuated by moments of terror.' Previous episodes were moments of terror, while this episode was the boredom that anyone that has been in combat can understand.

As of now, I see no reason of them stopping the series as we came this far. More than likely, and of course, those that played the VN can answer this. Next season will probably be the last as they wrap up this arc.

But, I do think there was a arc after this. Again, VN players can answer that.

But for what it's worth, I have enjoyed the series and looking forward to the next one. 7/10.

This season was a emotional rollercoster. Can't say it all great but it a bit tiny good.

At the very end of the episode, Sumika mentioned that she liked that tree but she didn't know why. In Muv-Luv Extra, near the end of Sumika's route, Takeru confesses to her right by that tree. There are also several other events during Sumika's route that happens near that tree as well.

While there is A LOT of anime in the pipe line that haven't received a release date as of yet Muv Luv be it a S3 of alternative, a S2 of total eclipse, or a new story isn't one of them.

G-Bombs will render the place they were deployed, literally sterile. Nothing will grow there, ever.

Therefore, if they mass deployed G Bombs, Humans will eventually die, land will become uninhabitable.

And, BETA Hives are deep. Always good possibility that some will survive, come back, and will be back at square one again.
